FENWAY BOWL - December 17, 2022

  • It took 3 years to get the Inaugural Fenway Bowl played on 12/17/22. Covid-19 pandemic cancelled the first attempt in 2020 while an outbreak of the Omicron variant within the Virginia program forced the cancellation in 2021.

The lead-up to the game was unique in that both schools made coaching changes shortly before, and shortly after, bowl matchups were being determined that involved each other. Both teams played with interim coaches.

The game started defensively as the first drives resulted in three punts, two fumbles and a turnover on downs. Louisville stayed in control of the game as they lead 21-0 at one point and lead 21-7 at the half. There was only a FG by the Cardinals in the 3rd qtr with the final ending up 24-7. Louisville easily covered the 2 point spread of which they were favored.

Game MVP was Jawhar Jordan who scored 2 TD’s on 115 yards rushing and 11 yards receiving.
